Topical Regimen

Tropical Regimen for Brown Age Spots

The topical program Skin Spectrum recommends is individually based. It depends on your skin type, sensitivities, medical condition(s) and personal goals. Our strategy at Skin Spectrum is to treat current areas of brown discoloration and prevent new areas from appearing. Frequently, observing more pigmentation on the skin comes with also observing broken blood vessels, dilated pores, wrinkles, laxity, volume loss, and generalized dullness to the skin. All of these issues play an important role in the selecting the proper treatment protocol for your skin.

Well studied common ingredients used at Skin Spectrum include:  Retinoids (prescription strength vitamin A), hydroquinones (prescription strength bleach at varying strengths), kojic acid, licorice, various alpha, beta, and poly hydroxy acids, exfoliants, melanocyte stabilizing products, and always the use of sunblock.

Prior to beginning any topical regimen, a thorough review of all medications currently taken and potential hormone issues will be reviewed. This is especially critical to issues with melasma (blotchy brown areas usually on the face).

The art of treating pigmentation is maximizing the penetration of product on this skin. We combine certain physical exfoliants, ClarisonicMD® home microdermabrasion, Diamond Peels (in-office microdermabrasion), ultrasounding product into the skin, or in-office chemical peels to maximize the benefit of the topical program.
