What is CoolTouch VARIA?

The CoolTouch VARIA laser is a versatile option that we use for both vein treatment and hair removal on the face and body. This laser alleviates spider veins, deeper blue reticular veins on the face and body, and telangiectasias (small red broken blood vessels). We frequently use it to remove blue veins under the eyes and on the temples, and the distinct blood vessels on the nose. The VARIA laser is a completely non-invasive complement to sclerotherapy (leg vein injections) and an alternative for less severe veins on the legs. Its spot size is ideal for hair removal on sensitive areas like the eyebrows, ears, upper lip, and bikini line.

The cost for VARIA laser treatments starts at $100.

What is CoolTouch CT3 Plus CoolBreeze™?

CoolTouch CT3 Plus CoolBreeze is a "non-ablative resurfacing" laser that stimulates smoother, healthier looking skin from the inside out. This laser is most commonly used for scar tissue, such as acne scars, surgical and trauma scars, as well as for jawline and general skin tightening. There are no harsh chemicals and essentially no recovery time, just a short, simple treatment resulting in younger looking skin. In this completely non-invasive procedure, the laser light passes harmlessly through the upper layers of your skin to heat and stimulate the cells deep below the surface that produce natural collagen. The collagen and elastin fibers continue to multiply after your treatment, and you will continue to see collagen stimulation for several months. The CoolBreeze laser has been FDA approved for new collagen production since 2001.

What are the potential benefits of treatment?

The most significant benefit of CoolBreeze is that it's a simple, brief treatment for younger looking skin. It is effective for acne scars, fine lines, and laxity. It is the treatment that we most often recommend for acne scar reduction in our Tucson practice, because it typically gives great improvement, with no downtime. It is also recognized as an option for acute acne and rosacea therapy. The CoolBreeze laser treatment can be performed on any facial area – around the eyes, mouth, cheeks, and chin – as well as on the body. The other benefits include immediate recovery with virtually no post-op care, and gradual improvement over time.

How long will a treatment take, and how many treatments are necessary?

The CoolBreeze treatment is so quick and easy that many people come in for treatment during their lunch hour. The treatment takes between 5 to 30 minutes. You can reapply your make-up right away. Clinical studies suggest that an average of 4 to 5 treatments is needed to stimulate new collagen growth. However, you may not see any improvement until 3 to 6 months after the start of the series of treatments, and collagen stimulation can continue for up to 18 months. We also recommend regular touch up treatments every 6 to 12 months to sustain the continued growth of new collagen.

What can I expect?

Patients typically report minimal discomfort with CoolBreeze treatment and often report that it feels a very short, mild sting. There may be some pinkness and swelling of the treated areas, which usually subsides within minutes to a few hours.

What are the possible side effects of this treatment?

Side effects are rare, but include swelling, redness, bumps, loss of pigment, and blisters on or around the treated area. These side effects disappear in a few days or weeks. A rare, but longer lasting side effect is a scar or depression where the laser created a blister.

What is the cost of a CoolBreeze laser treatment?

CoolBreeze treatments start at $100 and depend on the area being treated and whether you are receiving it in combination with other procedures.
