Light Peels
Skin Spectrum offers a variety of superficial chemical peels, sometimes referred to as “lunchtime peels.” These treatments help to exfoliate and refresh the appearance of your skin and they can help with certain skin problems, such as acne, fine lines, and brown patches.
Various forms of exfoliating or peeling the skin can completely remove or lighten pigment. There are medical grade (only carried at physician’s office) alpha, beta, and polyhydroxy acids masks and peels one can use at home to supplement an excellent topical regimen. The Clarisonic® MD exfoliation device recently has shown to increase penetration of products by as much as sixty-one percent. We also perform Micro Peels, a light peel, which features microplaning, a gentle exfoliation that also rermoves facial “peach fuzz” hair.
Pigment Removal Therapies
In office, pigment removal therapies include glycolic and salicylic acid peels. There is little to no downtime for healing. They lift pigment, stimulate collagen, and leave the skin looking refreshed and healthy. We have extensive experience with the combination of microdermabrasion and ultrasounding bleaches into the skin. (We frequently add a light anti-red laser treatment, as many patients with melasma - blotchy type skin pigmentation - have broken blood vessels in addition to brown.)If pigmentation is persistent, more aggressive spot treatment, with lasers, light sources or liquid nitrogen may be required.
