As specialists in minimally invasive facial rejuvenation, the board-certified dermatologists at Skin Spectrum are pleased to offer an innovative nonsurgical facelift alternative called the Silhouette InstaLift®. At our premier facility in Tucson, Arizona, patients choose this procedure to look more youthful and refreshed without the recovery time of a traditional facelift.
WHAT IS AN INSTALIFT®?
The InstaLift is an FDA‐approved, state‐of‐the‐art, nonsurgical facelift by Thermi®, the company that makes ThermiTight®. This procedure uses specially designed sutures with cone‐shaped anchoring devices that are threaded into the deep layers of the skin and tissues of the midface, jawline and/or neck. As the sutures are pulled taut, the cheeks, jawline, and neck are lifted. The sutures and anchors, which contain poly‐L‐lactic acid – the same substance found in Sculptra® – are naturally absorbed by the body and gradually stimulate collagen production in the treatment area over the following months. The increased collagen production adds subtle volume to the cheeks and midface.
While the results of an InstaLift are not as noticeable as those of a surgical facelift, it does not require general anesthesia, it is more affordable, and the recovery period is far less extensive. Patients in their 40s to 50s who have minimal to moderate sagging of the cheeks, jawline, and neck may find the InstaLift procedure to be an attractive option.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF AN INSTALIFT?
Much like a surgical facelift, an InstaLift rejuvenates the lower part of the face. It is also used for the neck, either independently or along with the face. This innovative procedure offers a variety of benefits:
- – Lifts sagging cheeks
- – Smooths smile lines (nasolabial folds)
- – Corrects drooping jowls to help redefine the jawline
- – Firms facial & neck skin
Our physicians may suggest combining your InstaLift procedure with injectables or a laser/light treatment for more dramatic rejuvenation. Other skin tightening options include Thermage®, which uses radiofrequency (RF) energy to tighten the skin. During your cosmetic consultation, our skilled providers will design a personalized treatment plan with your concerns in mind.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
Local anesthetic is used to numb the midface, and the physician then marks specific points on the treatment area to guide the placement of the InstaLift sutures. Depending on the desired results, one to three sutures may be inserted under the skin in a parallel fashion, running from the lower cheek towards the temple. The entire procedure is usually completed in about 45 minutes.
Patients are generally ready to return to normal activities within 48 hours. Initially, you should expect slight tenderness, redness, swelling, and bruising. These temporary side effects can be minimized by applying ice packs as directed and keeping the head elevated, even while sleeping.
Patients typically notice immediate lifting of the midface, with additional improvement over the next three to six months as collagen develops and firms the skin. Once achieved, results are long lasting.
