As specialists in minimally invasive facial rejuvenation, the doctors at Skin Spectrum are pleased to offer an innovative nonsurgical facelift alternative called the Silhouette InstaLift™. At our Tucson, Arizona, practice, women and men enjoy looking more youthful and refreshed with minimal downtime.
What is an Instalift
The InstaLift is an FDA‐approved, state‐of‐the‐art, nonsurgical facelift by Thermi®, the company that makes ThermiTight®. This procedure involves specially designed sutures with cone‐shaped anchoring devices that are threaded into the deep layers of the skin and tissues of the midface, jawline and/or neck tissues. As the sutures are tightened, the cheeks, jawline, and neck are lifted. The sutures and anchors, which contain poly‐L‐lactic acid — the same substance that’s found in Sculptra® — are naturally absorbed and gradually increase collagen production in the skin over weeks to months.
What are the Benefits of an InstaLift?
Much like a surgical facelift, the InstaLift rejuvenates the lower 2/3 of the face. We also use it for the neck, either individually or along with the face. This innovative procedure offers a variety of benefits:
- – Lifting sagging cheeks
- – Smoothing smile lines (nasolabial folds)
- – Correcting drooping jowls to help re-define the jawline
- – Firming facial & neck skin
Using the principles of “combineese,” we may suggest combining your InstaLift with injectables or a laser/light treatment for more extensive rejuvenation. During your cosmetic consultation, we will develop a personalized treatment plan to help you achieve the improvements you desire.
Is the InstaLift Right for Me?
If you would like to rejuvenate your midface without surgery, you may be a candidate for the InstaLift. Good candidates are typically women and men who:
- – Are in their 40’s to 50’s
- – Have minimal to moderate sagging of the cheek, jawline, & neck
- – Do not have significantly thin facial skin and tissues
Other skin tightening options include ThermiTight®, which uses radiofrequency energy to tighten the skin and melt away unwanted fat. Patients who have advanced facial aging may be referred elsewhere for cosmetic surgery.
What Are the Advantages of an InstaLift Over FaceLift Surgery?
While improvements are not as dramatic, for the right candidate InstaLift some advantages over a surgical facelift:
- – Shorter procedure time
- – No exposure to general anesthesia
- – Less expensive
- – Minimal downtime
What Can I Expect During the Procedure?
Our physicians perform the InstaLift using local anesthetic to numb the midface. Specific points on the skin are marked to guide placement of the InstaLift sutures. Depending on the desired results, the doctor may insert 1 to 3 sutures under the skin in a parallel fashion, running from the lower cheek towards the temple. The entire procedure is usually completed in about 45 minutes.
What Happens After My Procedure?
Patients return home the day of the procedure and are usually ready to return to normal activities within about 48 hours. Initially, you can expect slight tenderness, redness, swelling, and bruising. These temporary side effects may be minimized by applying ice packs as directed and keeping your head elevated, even while sleeping.
Patients usually notice lifting of the midface right away. Results improve over the following 3 to 6 months as collagen develops and firms the skin. Once achieved, final results are long lasting.
