Even when patients eat healthfully and exercise regularly, there are some areas of the body that seem to be more resistant to fat reduction. To target midsection fat, love handles, a muffin top, a double chin or saddle bags on the outer thighs, consider CoolSculpting® body contouring treatments at Body by Skin Spectrum. CoolSculpting is an ideal procedure for patients who are at or near their target body weight but have areas of fat they would like to further reduce. This non-surgical, non-invasive procedure can also reduce excess fat on the upper arms, knees, back, and male chest. Patients love CoolSculpting because it effectively treats body fat without the need for surgery.

HOW DOES COOLSCULPTING® WORK?
CoolSculpting uses controlled cooling to reduce fat deposits. This body contouring procedure is FDA-cleared for the treatment of visible fat bulges in the submental (under the chin) and submandibular (under the jawline) areas, thighs, flanks, and abdomen. It also treats bra fat, back fat, underneath the buttocks, and the upper arms. Additionally, it is FDA-cleared to improve the appearance of lax tissue when treating submental areas. It requires no incisions, anesthesia, pain medication or downtime.
This procedure employs a process called cryolipolysis to selectively freeze fat cells without affecting the surrounding tissue, which is possible since fat cells freeze at a higher temperature than other cells.
The body’s natural metabolic cleansing processes remove the damaged fat cells over time, resulting in safe, gradual fat reduction, and once these fat cells are filtered out of the body, they cannot return. Results are noticeable within four to six weeks following treatment. A slimmer, more toned and contoured body appears within three months.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
CoolSculpting is a simple and very tolerable procedure. Treatment can be completed in as little as an hour depending on the target area and number of treatment cycles needed to achieve ideal results. Patients can relax, read, sleep or use mobile devices while undergoing treatment in our well-appointed procedure rooms.
To protect the skin from the cold temperatures used during the procedure, gel pads are placed over the skin of the target area. The CoolSculpting applicator is positioned over the treatment area, and suction is initiated to hold the applicator in place. CoolSculpting technology then aims cooling energy at the treatment region, lowering the temperature of targeted fat cells to freeze the lipids inside.
During the procedure, patients may experience sensations of pulling, tugging, mild pinching, intense cold, tingling, stinging, aching, and cramping at the treatment site, but these sensations subside as the area becomes numb.
We recommend a series of treatments to attain optimal results. Our providers, who all trained at CoolSculpting University, a facility designed to fully immerse practitioners in the theory and practice of CoolSculpting procedures, will develop a plan with your specific goals in mind.
Tell your provider if you have any medical conditions, including recent surgery, pre-existing hernia, and any known sensitivities or allergies.
SIDE EFFECTS
Following treatment, patients are free to return to their normal routine without weeks of frustrating downtime or healing time. Since anesthesia is not necessary, patients can skip the side effects that generally accompany general anesthesia.
Typical side effects include temporary redness, swelling, blanching, bruising, firmness, tingling, stinging, tenderness, cramping, aching, itching or skin sensitivity, and a sensation of fullness in the back of the throat after treatment of the submental or submandibular areas.
