Skin Spectrum patients with demanding schedules find it difficult to spend hours in the gym, strengthening and toning their muscles. CoolTone®, which is frequently used in conjunction with CoolSculpting® to provide muscle definition after reducing subcutaneous fat, offers a viable solution. This FDA-cleared procedure strengthens, tones, and firms the abdomen, buttocks, and thighs without downtime and without the need for a personal trainer.
HOW DOES COOLTONE® WORK?
CoolTone® is a non-invasive body contouring treatment that utilizes Active Magnetic Pulse™ (AMP) to selectively deliver strong pulses to muscle tissue, effectuating a stronger abdomen, tighter thighs, and a firmer buttocks. AMP™ technology induces involuntary muscle contractions, working below the fat layer to strengthen and tone muscle via the CoolTone® applicator, which generates a magnetic field that creates a current when it passes through muscle. This induced current causes an involuntary contraction, and the body responds by strengthening its muscle fibers.
Patients in good health, who are at or near their target body weight, are great candidates for the CoolTone® procedure. We recommend a consultation with one of our providers to determine if this procedure is right for you and to assess the number of treatments needed for optimal results.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
Photos are taken prior to each treatment session to track results. The CoolTone® device, which integrates with software that monitors and precisely administers targeted pulses, is gently positioned on the desired treatment area. Patients report the sensation of mild to moderate muscle contractions similar to the intensity experienced during a strenuous workout. This sensation is most intense when the pulses are initially applied, but the discomfort is brief, diminishing a few minutes into the treatment.
Our providers can treat multiple areas on the same day, and while there is no downtime, it is possible to experience mild muscle soreness for one to two days following treatment. Patients may immediately return to all regular activities.
We suggest four treatments over the course of two weeks, with a maintenance treatment every three months. Visible results generally emerge in as little as two weeks, and muscle tone and strength continue to improve over the course of the treatment series.
RISK FACTORS
CoolTone® is not recommended for people who have electronic devices, metal, implants, or diminished sensation in or near the targeted area. This includes devices such as pacemakers, cochlear implants, and copper IUDs.
Menstruating women sometimes report increased pain, cramping, and discomfort after an abdominal CoolTone® treatment. For those who are close to their cycles, CoolTone® may cause menstruation to begin sooner than anticipated. The week immediately after the end of the menstrual cycle is usually the best time to schedule CoolTone® treatments.
