Skin Spectrum

At Skin Spectrum, chemical peels offer another highly effective method to exfoliate the skin and foster the growth of fresh, new, healthy cells. ZO® Skin Health is renowned for quality and efficacy, and its peels are no exception. The ZO® Controlled Depth Peel™ was developed by Dr. Zein Obagi, creator of the original Obagi Blue Peel®, to provide stimulation at the dermal and epidermal layers, which maximizes collagen production. Damaged skin peels away to reveal a smoother texture and more even tone.

HOW DOES THE ZO® CONTROLLED DEPTH PEEL™ WORK?

The ZO Controlled Depth Peel is the deepest peel Skin Spectrum offers. It resurfaces damaged skin by causing superficial cells to peel away, resulting in a tighter, smoother, more even complexion. The trichloracetic acid (TCA) contained in this peel allows our highly skilled providers to tailor the treatment to a patient’s individual concerns, as it is buffered specifically to skin type.

Patients frequently opt to undergo filler and neuromodulator injections a few weeks before or after a peel. We find that treatments performed in combination afford the best outcome, restoring the firm, clear, bright skin characteristic of youth.

WHAT CONDITIONS DOES THIS PEEL TREAT?

The ZO Controlled Depth Peel addresses a variety of skincare issues, including:

  • – Pigmentation, such as brown spots and uneven skin tone
  • – Melasma
  • – Rough skin texture
  • – Skin laxity
  • – Fine lines and wrinkles

WHAT CAN I EXPECT?

To achieve ideal results and for the skin’s safety, our providers recommend prepping the skin for four to six weeks prior to treatment. Adherence to the proper skincare regimen before the procedure can enhance effectiveness and protect the skin from unintended damage. In preparation for this peel, an office visit is also necessary to review pre- and post-treatment instructions.

Light in-office sedation requires a driver to and from the procedure, but it effectively manages discomfort. A moderate burning sensation persists for about 10 minutes, then fades into the feeling of a tolerable sunburn. A Zimmer machine gently blows cool air on the skin to alleviate any burning or stinging.

You should plan for one week of downtime, with redness lasting for the week and fading to a pink that can remain for a few additional weeks. Peeling occurs for one to two weeks after the procedure. We suggest that patients avoid exercise, excessive sweating, and sun exposure for one to two weeks following the ZO Controlled Depth Peel.
