For Skin Spectrum patients who desire the benefits of skin resurfacing but cannot fit the requisite downtime into their lives, we offer another option. ResurFX™ is a non-ablative fractional laser treatment developed by one of the world’s leading creators of medical devices to address skin concerns on both the face and body. When used in combination with the finest skincare products available, ResurFX typically gives patients an enviable candescent glow.
HOW DOES THE LASER WORK?
ResurFX is a non-ablative laser. Non-ablative lasers stimulate the skin to develop collagen with minimal tissue damage, and as collagen production increases, the skin appears tighter and more even, with improved texture. ResurFX is also a fractional laser, which delivers light to the skin in tiny dots. This delivery method creates pinpoint holes in the treated areas but leaves the adjacent skin untouched, resulting in more rapid recovery times. Unlike other fractional devices, ResurFX prioritizes comfort and efficacy by requiring just one pass over the skin. The device allows for highly customizable treatments, as our extensively trained providers can adjust factors such as laser shape, size, density, and energy strength to fit your precise needs.
For more dramatic results, we often use ResurFX in conjunction with IPL (intense pulsed light) to target issues such as brown spots and redness. During your consultation, our providers will design the best treatment plan for you.
WHAT CONDITIONS DOES RESURFX TREAT?
The skin concerns that ResurFX treatments can improve include:
- – Scars from acne or injury
- – Fine lines and wrinkles
- – Loose skin
- – Stretch marks
- – Enlarged pores
WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
During a ResurFX Laser skin rejuvenation treatment at our beautiful Tucson practice, we apply a topical anesthetic 40 minutes prior to the procedure. The FDA-cleared system includes temperature-monitoring CoolScan™ technology to ensure that the skin always stays protected. Patients say the sensation resembles a prickly heat that builds into a mild sunburn, so a Zimmer machine gently blows cool air on the skin to minimize any discomfort.
We recommend a series of treatments spaced four to six weeks apart, depending on the area and the condition being treated.
ResurFX demands significantly less downtime than ablative resurfacing, but the recovery time is still mild to moderate. You should anticipate two to three days of redness and swelling, followed by possible peeling for an additional three to four days. Patients are advised to limit sun exposure the week before and after treatment to attain ideal results and decrease downtime.
