Skin Spectrum

Collagen induction therapy is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation treatment that requires very little downtime, so it appeals to even our busiest Skin Spectrum patients. Our providers trust the SkinPen® microneedling device to smooth, brighten, and tighten skin for a more radiant, youthful appearing complexion.

HOW DOES SKINPEN WORK?

A tiny disposable needle cartridge inflicts controlled microscopic piercings in the skin while allowing the surrounding areas to remain intact. These invisible punctures elicit the skin’s healing process, which results in the creation of new dermal tissue and blood vessels, and stimulates the production of collagen. Most skin types and colors respond well to the SkinPen treatment, and our dermatology experts will consider several factors, including skin type and color, to determine the right procedure for you.

WHAT DOES SKINPEN TREAT?

Microneedling diminishes fine lines and wrinkles, and improves the appearance of acne and surgical scars. It also reduces pore size and firms lax skin, resulting in smoother skin with more even tone. For the healthiest of glows, our providers recommend enhancing your treatment with a skincare regimen designed specifically to address your concerns. Additionally, the correct regimen will extend treatment results.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT?

Most patients find this procedure to be very tolerable, as the application of a topical anesthetic minimizes discomfort. Some patients describe a slight stinging sensation but more commonly report feeling nothing more than vibration.

The skin typically appears mildly to moderately red for two to three days following a SkinPen treatment, with some dryness and flaking. Swelling and bruising are less common but are also possible.

Depending on the condition of the skin and the desired results, our providers recommend three to six treatments spaced four to six weeks apart, with a maintenance treatment every four to six months. The skin will continue to improve over time as collagen production increases.
