HOW DOES ThermiVa® WORK?
The ThermiVa® handpiece, designed with comfort in mind, delivers radiofrequency (RF) energy, which heats deep tissue and causes the tissue to contract. This contraction stimulates the production of collagen, which tightens vaginal tissue over time. The procedure is non-invasive, and there is no need for hormones.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
ThermiVa® requires approximately one hour to complete, and anesthetic is not necessary. A wand-like handpiece delivers radiofrequency (RF) energy to the treatment area to encourage the internal and external tightening of vaginal tissue. The ThermiVa® system continuously monitors the temperature of the RF energy and the skin to ensure that the tissue and the skin in the treatment area always remain at a safe temperature. Patients typically say the sensation is that of mild heat, with minimal discomfort.
This procedure is not recommended for pregnant women or for those with any concerns of infection in the treatment area.
WHAT IS THE RECOVERY LIKE?
There is no downtime associated with ThermiVa®, though mild vaginal spotting is possible for a few days following the procedure. You may expect to see improvement in three to six months post-treatment.
We recommend a series of treatments spaced a month apart, depending on the degree of laxity, and a quarterly maintenance treatment to maintain results.
