HOW DOES ThermiSmooth® WORK?
A temperature-controlled handpiece rolled over the surface of the skin delivers radiofrequency (RF) energy, which heats deep tissue and causes the tissue to contract. This contraction elicits an inflammatory response that stimulates cells to produce new collagen. As collagen production increases, the skin’s elasticity improves, and the skin appears markedly taut and firm over time.

Patients often undergo dermal filler and neuromodulator injections a few weeks before their ThermiSmooth procedure. WHAT CAN I EXPECT WITH ThermiSmooth®?
The application of gel to the treatment area ensures the safe conduction of heat. Most patients say the sensation is that of a warm massage, making anesthetic unnecessary. ThermiSmooth transmits RF energy to targeted tissue underlying the skin by gently rolling the handpiece over the desired area in circular motions. Thermal imaging guides the provider throughout the procedure, and the Thermi system continuously monitors the temperature of the RF energy and the skin to ensure that the tissue and the skin in the treatment area always remain at a safe temperature.
The body responds to this procedure by producing collagen, and increased collagen results in firmer, tighter skin with the passing of time. Most patients require three to six sessions spaced two to four weeks apart for optimal results.
