How Does QWO Cellulite Removal Injectable Treatment Work?
In order to understand how to get rid of cellulite with QWO cellulite removal injectable treatment, we first need to understand what cellulite is because there are many misconceptions out there. First and foremost, cellulite is extremely common, and it doesn’t mean you’re in bad shape. Cellulite occurs in over 90% of women and is rare in men. Even if you exercise regularly and eat healthy foods, you may still develop cellulite, even the most rigorous exercise routine may not get rid of cellulite.
That’s because cellulite is not caused by eating too much or failing to get enough exercise. Instead, cellulite is caused by a combination of three things: thinning skin, fat cells pushing against the skin, and thick, fibrous collagen bands thickening beneath the skin.
Cellulite is caused by fibrous collagen bands that attach muscle to the skin. The injectable cellulite treatment QWO is formulated using enzymes called collagenases that target and degrade these fibrous, collagen bands that cause dimpling. QWO injections break down the thickened collagen bands, redistribute fat cells, and stimulate the production of new, healthy collagen. This three-fold process takes place over about ten to twenty days after treatment, and it leaves skin looking smoother with less dimpling. Over time, the production of new collagen molecules creates a more even, attractive overall appearance.
Who is a Good Candidate for QWO Cellulite Removal Treatment?
QWO cellulite injectable treatment is the only FDA-approved product to treat moderate to severe dimpling and cellulite on the buttocks. Currently, research and clinical trials are ongoing to determine the efficacy of QWO cellulite removal on other parts of the body, including thighs.
Before receiving QWO injectable cellulite removal treatment, patients should talk to their dermatologist about any current health concerns, including:
- Allergies to collagenase or any ingredients of QWO injectables
- Recent or ongoing infection at or near the treatment site
- Bleeding or clotting disorders
- Pregnant or may become pregnant
Patients should also discuss all current prescription and over-the-counter medications with our Skin Spectrum team before beginning treatment and make special note of any antiplatelet or anticoagulants you are currently taking or have taken recently.
How is QWO Cellulite Removal Treatment Performed?
During an initial consultation appointment, we will examine the treatment area, answer any questions you may have, review your health history, and discuss your treatment options, including QWO cellulite removal as applicable. If we determine QWO is the right option for you, you’ll set up a series of three short injection treatment visits conducted at three-week intervals.
At Skin Spectrum, one week after your QWO injectable session, we also follow up with a laser treatment called the ZWave. It is an ultrasound treatment that is also FDA-approved for cellulite treatment and is known as the “fat cracker.” It takes just a few minutes and there is no discomfort or healing time involved.
The injectable and laser treatments themselves are short and relatively painless. Typically completed in less than ten minutes, the injection procedure involves identifying target areas (dimples in the buttocks) and using a small-gauge needle to inject the QWO cellulite removal treatment. A treatment plan of the number of dimpled sites is determined before the procedure. Often it is determined 0-12 sites or 12-24 sites that will be injected at one session. Photos are taken to document treatment areas at each visit. At the 3-week follow-up treatment, some of the sites may be completely treated with one session, but some sites or new sites may need to be injected.
Following treatment, most people will have moderate superficial bruising. This is expected as the collagen breakdown of the bands creates superficial venous leakage. This may require a week to a few weeks to resolve. There is also sometimes a feeling of bumps for a few days under the treated areas. This quickly resolves. You should be able to resume your regular routine right away. You will schedule follow-up visits to assess your results and set additional treatments as necessary.
How Long Does QWO Cellulite Removal Treatment Take?
