A daily skincare regimen at home is a great foundation for treating minor concerns and maintaining a clear complexion; however, most people can benefit from treatments performed by a dermatologist. At our Tucson practice, we offer a variety of solutions for patients struggling with concerns such as sun damage, acne scars, and splotches. In many cases, even a single appointment can make a significant difference in the health and appearance of the skin.

If you’re looking to take your skin to the next level, here are a few of our most popular options to consider.

excel® V laser

The excel V laser is a vascular laser that treats broken blood vessels and small facial veins. The device’s popular Laser Genesis mode addresses uneven texture and acne with a series of gentle treatments that produce results that emerge gradually. Treatment sessions require little-to-no downtime and results can be seen over a series of treatments spaced a few weeks apart.

IPL

Also called photofacial or fotofacial, an IPL treatment reduces unwanted pigmentation like freckles, brown spots, and splotches. It can also help soften redness seen in conditions like rosacea and scarring, and improve overall texture and pore size. The non-invasive treatment uses intense pulsed light (IPL), which melanin and red blood cells harmlessly absorb for a lighter, more even effect. Patients typically experience optimal results after 3 to 5 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart or longer.

Chemical Peels

For a chemical peel, your dermatologist applies a chemical solution to your skin that causes the outer layers to eventually slough off. The result is regenerated skin that is smoother and tighter. We offer several varieties of peels, including:

  • • Light Peels: The least intensive of the peels, these exfoliate and refresh the appearance of the skin. This can help with concerns such as acne, fine lines, and brown patches. We also offer medical-grade products you can use at home to help supplement your results.
  • • Medium Peels: These peels are stronger as they penetrate deeper into the skin to stimulate collagen and lighten pigment. These require little to no downtime, cause minimal discomfort, and reveal smoother, more radiant skin. Examples include Vi Peel™, ZO 3 Step Peel™.
  • • ZO Controlled Depth Peel®: This provides dramatic skin rejuvenation and can be applied to areas other than the face. We prescribe medication to help with any discomfort associated with this peel, and we recommend planning for about a week of healing time as the skin takes on various shades of red and brown and gradually flakes off. This deep level of treatment allows for very refreshed skin to appear.
